The University of Global Health Equity (UGHE) is a new kind of university focused on training the next generation of global leaders in health care delivery. The university launched in Rwanda in September 2015 with its flagship degree program: the Master of Science in Global Health Delivery. Through an academic experience uniquely rooted in the values of equity, students are empowered to both ease suffering at the bedside and drive transformational, systemic changes to the health system.UGHE is an initiative of Partners In Health (PIH), an internationally recognized non-profit organization whose mission is to provide a preferential option for the poor in health care. In over nearly three decades of operating alongside public sectors in countries around the world, PIH has developed a model to deliver high quality health care to some of the world’s most marginalized communities. Position Overview

UGHE seeks someone with demonstrated administrative, project management, and financial management skills to oversee a discrete portfolio of grants. This position will oversee all internal systems related to coordinating grant activities, tracking grant progress against key deliverables, reporting out to funders. The Grants Manager will be a vital part of the growing Rwanda-based Finance team.

Responsibilities

Project Management

  • Track progress on all grant deliverables within portfolio
    • Orchestrate regular progress check-ins with grant team, and with funders as needed
    • Track all progress against grant deliverables and internal team tasks, and report out to team regularly
    • Contribute to the writing of grant proposals
    • Keep meticulous files on grant-related documents
  • For each grant in portfolio, provide tailored administrative support
    • Schedule meetings, administer conference calls, and circulate minutes
    • Coordinate travel logistics
    • Draft contracts for subwaward institutions and consultants
    • Draft and/or copy edit reports and presentations for external audiences
    • Coordinate recruitment and hiring
    • Support the team to track and prioritize tasks
    • Other direct support to the PIs as needed for grant-related activities as needed

Financial Management

  • Serve as point person for all coding questions related to expenditures on grants within portfolio
  • Review all monthly expenditures on grants within portfolio to ensure correct coding and compliance to grant regulations
  • Produce monthly reports to PIs of grants in portfolio showing budget spending progress
  • Request identified reclassifications in the accounting system
  • Draft invoices and/or financial reports for funders within grant portfolio based on actual expenditures
  • Support the planning and budgeting processes for multi-year grants​

Qualifications

  • At least 2 years of experience in project management, financial management, or grant compliance required
  • Bachelor’s degree in related field
  • Exemplary interpersonal skills; ability to effectively collaborate with culturally diverse staff across departments and countries
  • Exceptional written and oral communication skills
  • Demonstrated skills in Excel required
  • Proficiency in accounting and project management software preferred
  • Must be flexible, reliable, responsive, resourceful, and have immense attention to detail
  • Commitment to social justice and health care equity
  • Fluency in written and spoken English required
