International Company Operations Manager 

SOUK-IG Limited is looking for an Operations Manager to support and develop our international expansion, particularly into the European, Middle East and Asia territories.

IS THIS YOU??

  • 5-10 years of experience in Operations Management or Corporate Management in an agriculture or horticulture business 

  • Ability to lead, develop and train employees 

  • Positive attitude with first-class, high English verbal and written communication skills

  • Experience and ability to coordinate performance and compensation reviews in accordance with company policies 

  • Superb communication with the CEO, board and your direct reports

  • Highly effective 3rd-party vendor management

  • Maintain high morale, low turnover and commitment to excellence within your team.

  • Anticipate issues sufficiently in advance to take corrective action before they become problems.

  • Recognize what judgment calls are being or need to be made and seek input to ensure we make the best decisions to reach potential.

  • Be effective: create systems that others follow; teach others to do the work and answer questions themselves.

  • Provide superb analyses and recommendations for budgets and business plans; Create clear job descriptions for all your staff.

  • Push all open issues to a clearly identifiable and tangible conclusion/solution. Leave nothing open.

  • Must be willing to travel and must have a Rwandan driving license. 

 KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Management Reporting 

  • Communicate and provide information to supervisors, peers or subordinates by telephone, in written form, e-mail or in person. 

  • Ensure effective management of operational activities

  • Management meetings on Monday and Wednesday

  • Staff meeting on Mondays to set agenda and priorities for the week

  • Daily coordination meeting with staff to monitor and steer team delivery

  • End of week management report to monitor plan vs progress

Manage the Operations

  • anticipates,  identifies and  communicates issues,  risks, and consequences  of proposed management decisions

  • makes astute decisions with the available information 

  • anticipates tight decision deadlines with astute decisions 

  • decides based on both the here and now and longer-term outcomes 

  • stands behind their decisions 

  • evaluates decisions and follows up on impacts

Cost Management

  • Ensure that Production, Trading and Fixed costs is less than budgeted cost.

  • Identify and implement 3 cost reduction opportunities. Target cost reduction of 20% to baseline Souk IG cost.

Financial Goals/Sales and Production Plan 

  • Establish a 1-year and 3-year business plan to be reviewed annually. One will need to have good understanding of markets and competitors in order to optimize sales and positioning according to the market.

New Business Development

  • Implement new business development opportunities for SOUK IG

Manage the Farm

  • Supervise the Agronomist

  • Build relationships with the District and the Cooperative

  • Records information, such as farm management practices and production results. 

Manage the Employees

  • Coordinate the staff to accomplish these daily, weekly and monthly business goals

  • Provide guidance to warehouse staff in staging orders for shipment

  • Supervise the office staff in budgeting, reconciliation, sales and purchases

  • Provides direct supervision over staff to include discretionary authority to determine methods of work; plan, assign and direct the work; in coordination with human resources and corporate policy, recommend personnel actions (promotions, salary and wage adjustments, demotions, discipline, discharge, etc.); administer routine performance appraisals; and interview/select employees.  

  • Motivate, develop and direct people as they work, identifying the best people for the job.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • have a deep and  broad knowledge  of and current successful  management experience in large scale, multi‐functional operational programmes 

  • position  themselves  anywhere between  strategic outcomes  and the technical details  and know what the operational situation, requirements or impacts are 

  • are proven people leaders 

  • work under pressure in a way that inspires others to do their best 

  • plan and budget accurately 

  • organize and simplify  complex technical  and operational information  into management options and implications 

  • make  sound decisions  under significant  pressure based on their  experience, wisdom, and judgment 

  • have high personal integrity that includes maintaining confidentiality 

  • have influence and credibility internally and externally with senior leaders and stakeholders 

  • have recent or current successful horticulture operations experience   

  • Ability to speak excellent, fluent English 

  • Kinyarwandan and French is a plus.

  • can drive and have Rwandan driving license
