Background of NCCR:

The National Cooperatives Confederation of Rwanda (NCCR) is the umbrella organization that promotes and represents the interests of the cooperative movement in Rwanda. On 28th October 2010, the National Cooperatives Confederation of Rwanda (NCCR) was established by nine cooperative federations. The NCCR was granted legal entity on 22 December 2010 and this was published in the Official Gazette N° 25 of 20/06/2011. In 2012, the NCCR joined the International Cooperative Alliance (ICA), which is the body that represents and serves cooperatives worldwide.

Currently, NCCR has increased membership to 14 federations namely:  FECOMIRWA (Mining), FECOPPORWA (Irish Potatoes), FEFICOORWA (Fishing), FERWACAPI (Beekeeping), FERWACOTAMO (Motorcycles), FERWACOTHE (Tea), FUCORIRWA (Rice), NDFFR (Livestock), RCCF (Coffee), RFTC (Minibuses + Coasters), RFWC (Wheat), RWCCF (Cassava), FCMR (Maize) and RFHC (Horticulture).

NCCR’s Vision is “LIFE WITHOUT POVERTY” has been inspired by the global sustainable development agenda (2016 – 2030). Given the inter-relatedness and integrated nature of the SDGs, we will contribute to each of them. Nevertheless, we will give emphasis on People, Prosperity and Partnership

Mission Statement: We exist to support our member Federations, Unions and Primary Cooperatives through capacity development, information sharing, advocacy and collaboration with Public, Private and Civil society organizations at local, Regional and International levels.

It is from this brief background that NCCR would like to Recruit High Profile Candidate who fulfill the Job Profiles below:

Essential Job Functions:

Coordinating projects NCCR is under taking and initiating new viable projects

Roles and responsibilities:

  • Coordination of the projects according to project agreements signed by NCCR
  • Regular evaluation of the project progress through established monitoring and evaluation instruments
  • Planning of NCCR’s project activities according to its vision and mission, government and donor requirements and in alignment of the activities with relevant national/regional development strategies
  • Regular reporting to the Executive Secretary
  • Financial management and resource mobilization, including partner management
  • Management of NCCR’s staff under project manager department, including recruitment, performance management and capacity development of employees
  • Good knowledge of the Rwandan and Cooperatives corporate / public and private sectors and its stakeholder landscape
  • Keeping up and building strong, reliable relations with relevant entities engaged in entrepreneurship, or the cooperative and microfinance sector
  • Other activities if relevant to the successful performance of NCCR


  • Master’s degree in project management or any development economics or business management discipline
  • At least 5 years of previous work experience in a similar position, preferably with demonstrated resource Mobilization experience;
  • Ability to elaborate projects and its negotiations and negotiate for funding
  • Fluency in English, Kinyarwanda, and French would be an added value
  • Proven management skills, while demonstrating innovation, creativity with a project initiative and familiar working with international organization, Government and privet institutions
  • Previous experience in fundraising and resource mobilization is a must
  • Good understanding of business environment in African countries
  • Excellent interpersonal and relationship building skills; very good communication, presentation and negotiation skills
  • Passion and ownership for the Cooperative Movement
  • Ability to use considerable judgement, initiative and independence
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and professionalism

Duration: The employee will work for the period of Six month
