YLabs designs programs that address the key health challenges facing disadvantaged youth around the world. SUMMARY

 YLabs is seeking a research director to bring creativity and public health expertise to our team to design and scale social innovation projects that improve health and economic opportunity for young people globally. Working at the cutting edge of design for social impact with a team that combines expertise in health, economics and design, you’ll help launch, manage and evaluate innovations in adolescent health. Hand-in-hand with our project partner organizations, you will design and implement an evaluation of our newly created mobile platform with both youths and medical providers. As the research director, you will develop and oversee all monitoring and evaluation efforts, including data collection, analysis, and reporting.

 You are:

  • Excited about the opportunity to establish a robust research team in Rwanda, in collaboration with the project director

  • Able to plan, design, and implement research projects in resource-constrained environments

  • Able to manage a team of data enumerators and analysts  

  • Experienced in monitoring and evaluation, implementation science, mixed methods research, and both process and outcome evaluation methodologies

  • Highly organized and adept at project management, operations, and reporting

  • Skillful in navigating different cultural and geographic contexts

You have:

  • A minimum of 4-6 years of experience in study design, data collection and analysis, and monitoring and evaluation of public health programs

  • Graduate-level training in public health, specifically epidemiology or monitoring and evaluation

  • A proven track record of developing tools and metrics to measure performance and progress

  • The ability to communicate complex information in a concise manner, both verbally and written, to different audiences  

  • Experience managing a team of researchers in complex data collection at multiple program sites

  • Strong qualitative and quantitative data collection and analysis skills

  • Technical expertise in sexual and reproductive health and/ or youth employment

  • Work experience in Sub-Saharan Africa (preferably Rwanda)

Desirable:

  • Kinyarwanda language skills

  • Experience managing USAID-funded projects

  • Familiarity with human-centered design/design thinking
