The M&E Intern will be able to work on one research project independently and support the M&E department in survey creation and implementation, data management, data analysis, and reporting.

More specifically, the intern will work on the following projects:

  • Conduct an own small research project on barriers of re-enrollment for former One Acre Fund clients: Many farmers in Rwanda have once been One Acre Fund clients in the past but are no longer clients now. The M&E Intern will work with other teams at One Acre Fund to design and execute a research project on the motives of former clients to not enroll in the One Acre Fund program again. She or he will design a qualitative study to understand barriers to re-enrollment for former clients, supervise its execution, and summarize the findings in a structured report that contains clear recommendations for One Acre Fund program design to lift some of the identified barriers.
  • Data cleaning and analysis for the 2020A and B Farm Economy surveys:

The One Acre Fund Farm Economy surveys are conducted in November and April of each year to understand the crop choices and growing patterns of One Acre Fund clients as well as their input uses and costs. The M&E Intern will clean and analyze the data from these surveys, write a report on the results and present these to the staff members of the Impact division.

During all steps, the M&E intern will be closely supported by the M&E data analysis team. The M&E team is open to discussing specific focus areas for the internship within the above projects as well as outside to accommodate the intern’s specific qualifications and desired areas of capacity building and learning.
