The Dare to Dream The I’m possible Initiative in Rwanda (DTDTI) exists to eradicate stigmatization against vulnerable people in Rwanda and the African continent, people also known as the people of determination (copyrighted and intellectual property of DTD) we wish to strengthen the voice of the special needs individuals by FIRST not calling them DISABLED but rather through identifying them as the people whom are Extra-ordinary and the people whom are Determined. This movement that we have started in Rwanda using it as a pioneer country we hope to replicate it in other African countries. The Dare to Dream the I’MPOSSIBLE initiative , together with its member Organizations, such as free hands foundations in the United states started by the Melinda Philanthropist Providing mechanical prosthetic hands free of charge for all who need them.The Dare to Dream the I’m possible Initiative would like to ensure that persons with DETERMINATION POD (PEOPLE OF DETERMINDATION) can enjoy equal rights to which they are entitled. We know very well that by using the word disability in programs and or in any of our affairs on are simply destined to failure and continuing the propaganda of passive aggressive abuse and stigmatization mindsets.
Funded by the seed funding of the book authored by Gabriella Afrika in the Library of congress of the United states and the foundation , the LN4 philanthropists foundation in the United states represented by its strategic partner Dare to Dream the I’m possible Initiative, and 20 other consortium partners will start with the implementation of a program on capacity building in advocacy for skill training and job placements along with lobbying for the terminology to be adopted by all willing members of society under our policy and regulatory sections Effective this month. Those members willing to take part of our initiative will then become members of the DTD Fund initiative.
Rights of marginalized young people with compounded (intersectional) vulnerabilities. The intersectionality consortium is composed of Executive Member of the Uganda Christian Medical Fellowship (UCMF) (lead partner), Doctor Proscenia – for the supplying of prosthetic Hands and legs. (Represented in Rwanda by Dare to Dream The I’m possible Foundation), Gyrimpye Foundation (Re-integrating and mindset alteration in regards to stigmatization through schools – through Dare to Dream SCHOLARSHIP ACADEMY program sponsored by the Dare to dream the I’m possible Fund Initiative. ),The Foundation of Woman in leadership represented by DR. Prof. Abunjobia (In Cameroon), . The intersectionality programs will be simultaneously implemented in Uganda, Cameroun, and Cote d’ivoire in order to reach our Dream as the DARE TO DREAM FUND INITIATIVE TO CHANGE the entire AU continent and the way that they view people of special needs.
Learning and sharing of innovations in advocacy for skill training and job placement along with re programing of the mindset utilizing our DTD wording between countries will be an important aspect within the program. Strengthening of civil society organizations and social movements will be an important methodology to reach the objectives of the DARE TO DREAM THE I’MPOSSIBLE FUND INITIATIVE.
DARE TO DREAM THE I’MPOSSIBLE FUND INTIATIVE along with its strong partners, will assure the project is well implemented by advocating for the rights of marginalized people to realize their full potential through becoming self suffient and accepted by the societies in which they belong DTD will therefore hire an experienced and dedicated individual for the position of Advocacy Officer to meet our 5 year Strategic plan. The present vacancy of a Advocacy and communications officer is specifically on capacity building in towards special needs with intersecting vulnerabilities, among which special needs individuals and growing establishing the DTD vision across the African border.
2. Job SYNOPSIS:
To lead the implementation and successful delivery of DTD Fund Initiative interventions on the Intersectionality Advocacy project in Rwanda over a our 5-year period. The primary objective is to improve the capacity of Organizations of persons with determination and other specific regulatory advocacy for human Rights of marginalized special needs and intersecting identities based on the various special needs.
3. MAIN Responsibilities:
- To promote special needs rights in the workforce and lead advocacy of the re –wording of the word disability in other organization within the different Districts, partners, DPOs Development partners for rights of PEOPLE OF DETERMINATION – EXTRAORDINARY HUMANS.
- To execute and implement Advocacy and Communications strategies that further our goals
- To organize and execute a wide range of actions to influence policy according to the scope of our strategy, programs, and specific results-oriented projects over
- To enhance the capacities of the early adopters’ MOs and POs on advocacy and Communication around SRHR
- Contribute to the develop of an Advocacy and communication strategies towards SRHR .
- Identify opportunities to raise awareness of SRHR with relevant stakeholder based on advocacy strategy and communication materials.
- Prepare communication materials and case studies to be used in advocacy work.
- Provide technical assistance to early adopters, PMOS and DTDSDs to finalize a stand-alone advocacy , lobbying and skill training strategies and action plans
- Act as a focal point for advocacy for the PH1DTD initiative
- Identify champions, activists, youth and women groups at all levels
- Ensure that DTDps1 positive messages are delivered through champions, activists, youth and our campaign MAKING THE INVISIBLE VISIBLE
- Support the development of national Behavior and Social Change Communication (BSCC) plans and the communication & comportment change plan (CCC) at the early adopters, MOs and community level.
- Develop communications and media material to be published on our upcoming website for May 20th 2021 and DARE TO DREAM THE I’MPOSSIBLE FUND INITITIATVE.
- Liaise with the Resource Mobilization Team on issues and advocacy opportunities, including advocacy proposals for funding.
- Preparing events and forums conferences and workshops using leading POD people of determinations as key participant
4. Competencies essential:
- Bachelors or Master’s degree in social science , humanities Project management and or other related fied such as Public Health, clinical psychology, social sciences or related degree
- A proven experience of at least 1 year in the field of Special needs advocacy and communication
- Proven Experience advocacy and communication towards inclusion of persons with special needs
- Skills in training, monitoring and evaluation of health interventions
- Willingness to learn
- Compassionate intentions and strong ethics
5. SKILLS
- Good analytical and writing skills, including report writing
- EMOTIONAL INTELLIGENCE
- Advanced computing skills, to include Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook
- Good spoken and written, English and French
- Strong organisational and time management skills
- Financial management skills
- Awareness of and sensitivity to the multi-cultural and diverse environment in which NUDOR operates
- Supportive of a youth and women with disabilities’ right to choose and have access to safe abortion services
