Role Overview

Ecofleet is offering a hands-on Professional internship for a motivated graduate in Mechanical Engineering ready to build a career in fleet maintenance. This role serves as a bridge between your technical training and real-world garage operations, providing practical experience maintaining the public bus fleet that keeps Kigali moving.

Working under the guidance of the Garage Supervisor/Foreman, you will apply your mechanical knowledge in a professional garage environment, receiving direct supervision and mentorship to help you master the standards of preventive maintenance, diagnostics, and repair excellence.

Key Responsibilities

  • Diagnostics Support: Assist in diagnosing mechanical and technical issues in vehicles, developing a sharp eye for identifying faults before they become failures.
  • Preventive Maintenance: Support routine servicing and scheduled maintenance activities that keep the fleet safe, reliable, and road ready.
  • Repairs & Parts Replacement: Assist in the repair and replacement of faulty vehicle parts and components under experienced supervision.
  • Vehicle System Inspections: Help inspect engine components, brakes, suspension, tires, fluids, and electrical systems to the required safety standards.
  • Records & Workshop Standards: Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities performed, while upholding health, safety, and environmental standards and keeping tools and the work area clean and organized.

Candidate Qualifications

  • Education: A degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field 
  • Technical Foundation: A basic understanding of the mechanical tools and equipment used in bus maintenance and repair.
  • Professional Presence: Demonstrated integrity, discipline, and professionalism, with a willingness to learn and adapt in a professional working environment.
