The Head of Commercial, who reports to the CEO, is accountable for the efficiency, precision, and governance of the commercial division. This position serves as the primary manager responsible for ensuring the smooth daily operation of all sales and marketing functions.

3. ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Subject to the Regulator’s approval, the Head of Commercial shall drive the growth and profitability through strategic leadership, relationship management, and team development.The Head of Commercial sets the ethical standard for the entire commercial division. By consistently demonstrating honesty and transparency, they establish a culture of integrity that permeates the sales and marketing teams, ensuring that all business is conducted fairly and ethically.
- Strategic Leadership and Business Development: Develop and implement the commercial strategy aligned with the company's vision, business objectives and growth ambitions. Identify market opportunities, analyze market trends, competitor activities, pricing and customer needs and driving new business acquisition, cross-selling, retention and market penetration initiatives. Lead the development and implementation of sales, distribution, and customer value proposition strategies to drive sustainable revenue growth.
- Broker, Agent, bancassurance and other Stakeholders Management: Act as the primary interface with the company's network of insurance brokers, agents, bancassurance and other stakeholders. This involves building and maintaining strong relationships, negotiating terms, providing technical support, and ensuring high levels of partner satisfaction.
- Portfolio and Financial Management: Oversee the performance, profitability, and risk profile of the commercial insurance portfolio. This includes monitoring key performance drivers, and ensuring financial targets are met.Contribute to budget preparation and commercial forecasting, and recommend corrective actions to achieve financial and business targets.
- Team Leadership and Development: Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing team of commercial insurance professionals. Foster a culture of accountability, high performance, and continuous improvement.Promote staff development through coaching, performance management, and succession planning within commercial department.
- Cross-Departmental Coordination: Coordinate with cross-functional teams across the Commercial Department including Marketing and branding, Sales, Product Development, and Customer Service to achieve established business goals and evaluate their performance.
- Regulatory Compliance and Governance: Ensure all activities comply with applicable laws and regulations, company policies, and industry standards. Promote sound risk management, ethical business practices, and corporate governance within the Commercial department.
4. KEY DELIVERABLES
- Profitability and Growth Targets: Achieve agreed-upon financial targets, including budget on revenue and Profit & Loss objectives.
- Portfolio Performance Metrics: Deliver a healthy portfolio as defined by key metrics such as Written Premium, Loss Ratio, Retention Rates and customer acquisition and growth.
- Broker Channel Performance: Drive performance through the broker network, measured by the number of active brokers, their productivity, and the effectiveness of commission spend.
- Market and Competitive Intelligence: Provide regular, data-driven reports and analytics to senior leadership on market trends, competitor activities, and portfolio performance.
- Team Performance: Demonstrate success in building, managing, and developing the team, measured through employee engagement, talent retention, and the achievement of team objectives.

6. Required Qualifications and Experience
- Possession of a CII Diploma or an equivalent qualification in Sales and Marketing.
- A Bachelor's degree is mandatory; a Master's degree is considered an added advantage.
- A minimum of five (5) years of progressive managerial experience, including at least three (3) years within the insurance sector or a related financial services field.
- Advanced proficiency (verbal and written) in French, English, and Kinyarwanda.
- Must be a Rwandan national.
- Candidates must be under 55 years of age at the time of application.
