The listening, monitoring, and evaluation (LM&E) team at HOPE International supports all programs and departments in listening to stakeholders to improve the way we serve. The listening, monitoring, and evaluation specialist will manage the implementation of impact evaluations, in addition to serving as an internal consultant, supporting and coaching listening activities across the HOPE International network. In all activities, they will bring a posture of equipping, seeking to train and build capacity in all staff.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Promote and contribute to the fulfillment of HOPE International’s mission and vision.
  • Lead LM&E projects
  • Lead the design, execution, and continuous improvement of monitoring, evaluation, and listening initiatives
  • Develop and maintain project plans, timelines, risk mitigation strategies, and stakeholder communication approaches
  • Project manage HOPE Quotient and other impact evaluations across the HOPE network, including building and maintaining schedule of administrations and liaising with all stakeholders to ensure quality, timeliness, and stakeholder alignment
  • Ensure adherence to best practices in data quality, ethics, and culturally responsive research
  • Provide Technical Leadership, Advisory Support, and Coaching
  • Serve as a technical advisor to LM&E Advisors and program teams across the network
  • Establish and promote best practices in survey design and implementation, participatory and stakeholder-centered methodologies, and quantitative and qualitative analysis
  • Consult throughout the feedback loop, providing feedback and partnering with programs and departments through design, administration, analysis, and reporting
  • Lead development and refinement of LM&E standards, tools, and frameworks
  • Coach, mentor, and train LM&E staff and program teams to build technical capacity, modeling a posture of equipping and empowering staff
  • Support Listening Across the Network
  • Design questionnaires, build survey tools, clean data, and conduct both quantitative and qualitative analysis
  • Write and design reports, synthesizing quantitative and qualitative findings into clear, actionable insights for diverse audiences including national program leadership and staff, church partners, community members, and international senior leadership
  • Ensure insights contribute directly to program improvement and strategic decisions
  • Facilitate collaboration with diverse stakeholders across countries and functions
  • Represent LM&E in cross-departmental initiatives and strategic projects

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Personal confession of Christian faith and commitment to the mission and vision of HOPE
  • Bachelor’s degree in economics, development, international relations, mathematics, or related field
  • 7+ years of progressive experience in monitoring & evaluation
  • Excellent interpersonal and collaborative skills, with ability to communicate well across cultures and make analyses useful to audiences with differing levels of comfort in reading and interpreting data
  • Experience liaising with diverse stakeholder groups
  • Intellectual curiosity: desire to understand the “why” behind data and dig deeper
  • Expertise in research methods
  • Significant experience designing, conducting, analyzing, and reporting on survey research
  • Significant experience listening across cultures, applying culturally responsive research methods
  • Ability to listen well and show empathy towards field staff involved in survey administration processes
  • Experience, and passion, for training and equipping others to build capacity
  • Passion for listening
  • Advanced written and verbal proficiency in English required. Proficiency in other additional languages preferred
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite (PowerPoint, Word, Excel, Outlook) and demonstrated ability to learn new systems
  • Self-motivated with demonstrated capacity to work independently, including strong organizational skills, effective time management and prioritization of competing demands/multiple deadlines
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail, balanced with good judgment and an awareness of the complex nuances of cross-cultural surveying
  • Excellent oral, written, and public communication skills
  • Creativity and an aptitude for innovation
  • Ability to travel up to 60 nights away from home per year
