The Embassy of the United States of America in Kigali, Rwanda is recruiting for a Public Health Administrative Specialist.

Duties: The position serves as a Senior Professional Advisor, supporting U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) engagement in Africa with a focus on advancing regulatory alignment, strengthening regulatory systems, and supporting the operationalization of the African Medicines Agency (AMA). The job holder leads the design, development, implementation, and evaluation of regulatory policy and technical initiatives aligned with U.S. Government (USG) strategic objectives. The position functions as a subject matter expert in regulatory science and international policy, providing technical advice, strategic guidance, and coordination across U.S. Government agencies, host governments, and international partners. Operating at a regional and effectively continental level, the position engages senior stakeholders and influences regulatory frameworks governing FDA‑regulated commodities, including pharmaceuticals, biologics, medical devices, and food products, representing tens of billions of dollars in annual trade across Africa and between Africa and the United States. By advancing regulatory alignment, reliance mechanisms, and harmonized standards, the position directly supports U.S. Government priorities related to public health, global supply chain resilience, and the expansion of U.S. market access.
