1. Job Purpose
The Chief Strategy Officer (CSO) will lead ATL’s enterprise-wide strategy development, strategic planning, corporate performance management, growth initiatives, investment evaluation, strategic partnerships, and transformation programmes.
Reporting directly to the Chief Executive Officer, the role will work closely with the Board, executive leadership, and subsidiary management teams to drive sustainable growth, long-term value creation, operational excellence, and effective execution of ATL’s strategic objectives across aviation, logistics, travel, training, infrastructure, and related business portfolios.
2. Key Duties & Responsibilities;
a. Group Strategy & Strategic Planning
- Lead the formulation, execution and regularrefresh of ATL Holding’s strategy, ensuring alignment with shareholder expectations, market realities and long-term enterprise priorities.
- Translate the Group vision into clear strategic priorities, measurable objectives and practical execution plans across ATL and its Strategic Business Units.
- Define and refine strategic priorities, key initiatives and performance measures that guide executive decision-making and strengthen business accountability.
- Lead the annual strategic planning cycle and facilitate executive strategy discussions across the Group.
- Embeda consistent strategy planning framework and governance discipline across all Strategic Business Units.
b. Strategy Execution & Transformation
- Leadenterprise-wide strategic initiatives, transformation programmes and priority projects from concept to delivery.
- Establish clear governance, milestones, accountabilities and performance measures for major strategic initiatives.
- Work with business leaders to resolvedelivery barriers, accelerate execution and maintain focus on strategic priorities.
- Convert strategic priorities into well-resourced execution plans aligned with capabilities, investment choices and performance expectations.
- Trackexecution progress and recommend timely corrective actions where performance or delivery falls behind approved plans.
c. Business Development, Growth & Portfolio Management
- Identify and advance growth opportunities across aviation, airports, travel, logistics, training and adjacent sectors.
- Assess acquisitions, joint ventures, partnerships, investments and new ventures with strong strategic and commercial judgement.
- Oversee due diligence, market assessments, business cases and investment analysis to support sound executive decisions.
- Advise the CEO, CFO, business leaders, Boards and external advisors on investment and portfolio decisions.
- Monitor portfolio performance and recommend expansion, restructuring, optimisation or exit options that support long-term value creation.
d. Market Intelligence & Strategic Advisory
- Provide forward-looking market intelligence to inform strategy across aviation, travel, logistics and related sectors.
- Lead market research, competitor analysis, scenario planning and review of emerging trends, technologies and regulatory developments.
- Assess external developments that may affect ATL’s strategy, competitive position, operating model and growth agenda.
- Develop strategic options that mitigate emerging risks and position the Group to capture high-value opportunities.
- Advise on business models, market entry, growth strategies, partnerships and major investment decisions.
e. Financial, Investment & Business Case Analysis
- Partner with the CFO and business leaders to ensure strategic plans are supported by sound financial assumptions, capital requirements and sustainable business models.
- Review and challenge business cases, financial models, investment proposals and strategic project plans to strengthen decision quality.
- Support financial scenarios, capital planning and long-term projections for priority strategic initiatives.
- Ensure major strategic proposals demonstrate clear strategic alignment, commercial viability, risk discipline and expected returns.
- Support Group funding, investment and restructuring strategies in close collaboration with the CEO and CFO.
f. Performance Management & Strategic Reporting
- Establish and oversee Group strategic performance measures, business objectives and executive-level performance indicators.
- Lead regular strategic and business performance reviews with the CEO and business leaders to reinforce accountability and delivery focus.
- Provideexecutive reporting on strategy execution, portfolio performance, growth opportunities and key performance trends.
- Strengthen reporting tools and processes to improve transparency, accountability and executive decision-making.
- Identify performance gaps and work with accountable leaders to drive timely corrective action.
g. Corporate Communications & Strategic Positioning
- Lead the Group’s corporate communications and strategic positioning agenda, ensuring ATL’s external narrative reflects its strategy, vision and growth ambition.
- Shape and protect ATL’s corporate reputation with government, shareholders, investors, industry partners, media and other strategic stakeholders.
- Advise the Group CEO and Board on executive communications, stakeholder messaging, reputation matters and communications risks.
- Lead communication of major strategic initiatives, investments, partnerships, transformation programmes and corporate milestones.
- Oversee executive and external communications, media engagement and issues management to strengthen ATL’s visibility, credibility and sector influence.
h. Strategic Partnerships & Stakeholder Engagement
- Develop strategic partnerships with governments, investors, financial institutions, aviation partners, development institutions and industry stakeholders.
- Represent ATL at strategic, industry, investment and business forums as delegated by the CEO.
- Build relationships that strengthen ATL’s market position, investment pipeline, strategic influence and access to critical capabilities.
- Coordinate with shareholder representatives and relevant government institutions on strategic matters through the Group CEO.
- Support clear communication of ATL’s strategic direction to employees, subsidiaries, partners, investors and other stakeholders.
i. Governance & Executive Decision Support
- Provide strategic counsel to the Group CEO, Board and relevant Board Committees on major corporate, investment and portfolio decisions.
- Ensure strategic initiatives are supported by appropriate governance, business cases, accountability mechanisms and decision rights.
- Facilitate executive discussions thatstrengthen alignment, prioritisation and coordinated execution across the Group.
- Champion a culture of strategic discipline, accountability, innovation and high performance across the Group.
- Anticipate strategic risks and recommend mitigation measures or alternative strategic options.
3. Desired Profile
a. Qualifications & Experience
- Master’s degree in Business Administration, Economics, Finance, Strategy, Engineering, Project Management or a related discipline. Relevant executive or professional qualifications are an advantage.
- At least 15+ years of progressive experience in strategy, business development, investment, transformation or a related field, with significantsenior leadership exposure.
- Proven track record of shaping and executing corporate strategies, growth agendas, transformation programmes and major strategic initiatives.
- Strong experience in investment evaluation, portfolio management, strategic partnerships and business case development.
- Experience in aviation, travel, logistics, infrastructure or another complex, regulated or multinational environment is highly desirable.
