In additional to owning our own estate, we also support more than 3000 small holder’s farmers in Nyaruguru.

Part 1: Business Context & Main Purpose

Browns Plantations Rwanda Limited (BPRL) is developing a g reen field tea factory in Nyaruguru District in the Southern Province of Rwanda. the development is at Phase 2 stage. At its design stage, it is mobi|izing budget to hire an architect/engineer for draughtsman position. We are looking for skilled and experienced draughtsman for a period of 6 months renewable.

Definition

A draughtsman (or drafier) is a person that creates precise technical drawings, blueprints, and 3D models for architecture, engineering, and manufacturing projects using CAD software. They translate rough sketches and concepts (rom engineers/architects into accurate, compliant technical plans, incorporating material specs and building codes

Accountabilities:

1. Following specifications and calculations to create various technical drawings. Preparing both rough sketches and detaile d work with CAD syste On time in full

General Responsibilities:

  • Creating Technical Drawings: Using software like Bricks Cad, AutoCAD or Revit to develop detailed 2D layouts and 3D models from rough sketches or specifications to
  • Collaboration: Working with engineers and architects to understand design requirements and project And also work with production and maintenance teams to troubleshoot design issues and verify that fabricated items are assembled according to specifications.
  • Modifying Designs: Updating existing plans to incorporate changes based on feed back, site visits, or material constraints.
  • Ensuring Compliance: Reviewing drawings to ensure they meet industry standards, safety regulations, and building codes.
  • Documentation: Preparing technical reports, material lists, and structural dimensions to guide production or Maintaining "as-built" plant layouts and ensuring proper (iling and archiving of technical documents, manuals, and Bills of Materials (BOM).
  • Quality Control: Preparing sketches and gen era| arrangement drawings (G.A.) for factory expansion or maintenance projects and ch ecl‹ing drawings for accuracy and completeness. 

Required Qualifications & Skills

  • Education: A Diploma or Higher Diploma in Mechanical Engineering or a related droughting
    field
  • Sofiware Proficiency: Strong proficiency in AutoCAD (2D/3D) and familiarity with Microsofi Office (Excel, Word) is crucial 
  • Experience: Previous experience (often 2-5 years) in an industrial facility or manufacturing environment is typically required.
  • Technical Skills: Ability to work with measurement tools, interpret rough sketches, and apply knowledge of steel (abrication processes (e.g., welding, piping).
  • High attention to detail and accuracy 
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet project deadlines
  • Excel|ent communication skills for coordinating with various factory teams.

Relevant Experience

Key Interfaces

  •  A0 in Architecture (preferred) or engineering.
  • At least 5 years of practical relevant working experience
  • Working experience in Green and Brown field projects
  • Active member of architecture/engineering bodies in Rwanda
  • Technical school training or an associate degree in drafting/CAD. - added Value
  • Experience of working in tea factories is added Value
  • Deep understanding of CAD software
  • Able to communicate (writing and reading) in English language
  • Computer literate (Ms. Word, Excel Power Point Presentation)
  • Architecture and/or civil engineering
  • Ability to work in a multidisciplinary and
  • MlJlticultural environment
  • Strong team-building and motivational skills
  • Integrity and safety compliance
