Expression of interest for qualified local Rwandan service providers to undertake independent geotechnical reviews for Trinity Metals

Trinity Metals(Trinity Nyakabingo mines ,Trinity Rutongo mines and Trinity Musha mines Limited) invites Expressions of Interest from qualified local Rwandan service providers to undertake independent geotechnical reviews across its mining operations. The assignment is intended to provide independent technical assurance, identify geotechnical risks and areas for improvement, and support the continued stability and safety of surface and underground mining infrastructure.

1. Scope of Work

The scope ofthe independent geotechnical review work includes, but is not limited to, the following:

  • Conduct visual inspections of surface infrastructure, including slopes and haul roads, and underground workings to identify deterioration, rockfalls, instability, or environmental impacts.
  • Provide expert guidance and input into existing strategies for the stability of slopes, underground workings, haul roads, and waste rock dumps.
  • Review and model identified areas of interest specified by the client to improve global geotechnical stability.
  • Identify gaps, risks, uncertainties, or areas for improvement in the underlying technical work and current geotechnical management practices.
  • Provide expert guidance on ground support, rock mass characterisation, and the calibration and interpretation of geotechnical monitoring instruments.
  • Deliver written geotechnical review reports and formal management presentations summarising findings, risks, conclusions, and recommendations.
  • Provide ad-hoc geotechnical expertise as and when required by the client.

2. Eligibility and Competency Requirements

Interested parties must:

  • Be a qualified Rock Engineer or Geotechnical Engineer with demonstrated competence in hard rock underground mining environments.
  • Be registered with a recognised professional organisation, such as the International Society for Rock Mechanics and Rock Engineering (ISRM) or a national ISRM-affiliated branch, or an equivalent professional body.
  • Have a minimum of 10 years demonstrated rock/geotechnical engineering experience in hard rock underground mining, including work on mine infrastructure stability such as road slopes, and waste rock facilities.
  • Possess a solid track record of working on external consultancy assignments, technical rock engineering audits, numerical modelling, geotechnical peer reviews, or independent geotechnical assurance reviews.

All interested service providers should submit an Expression of Interest together with the following supporting documents:

  • Cover letter introducing the company or individual consultant, confirming interest, availability, and understanding of the assignment.
  • Company profile, including technical capability, qualifications, professional registrations, and relevant geotechnical experience.
  • CVs of proposed personnel clearly demonstrating rock engineering or geotechnical engineering qualifications, professional registration, and relevant experience as stipulated.
  • Summary of at least three similar assignments undertaken in the last five years, including client name, project scope, location, and contactable references. 
  • Certificate of domestic company registration issued by RDB.
  • VAT registration certificate
  • Valid tax clearance certificate issued by RRA.

Expressions of Interest received after 11:00 AM local time on 30 September 2026 will not be considered.

Shortlisted respondents may be invited for further technical discussions to confirm capability and suitability. Thereafter, Trinity Metals may issue an invitation to tender to selected qualified bidders.
